Naughty Paris

The Naughty Paris Guide will be the subject of a forthcoming episode of Playboy TVs newest series, "69 Sexy Things To Do Before You Die." It should be airing towards the end of season 1, so check the schedule in June or check back here to stay posted!

Books about sex rarely cause much of a stir -- at least not in France -- but Pierre-Louis Colin's book "Guide des jolies femmes de Paris" is not only raising eyebrows with the "stuffy" anglosaxons in the US and UK, it's also getting the French all worked up. In his defense, the book isn't a sex guide at all, just a list of places where you can ogle Parisien women of all ages and styles. Read more about on my Secrets of Paris blog.

In case anyone was still wondering if fetish is really mainstream or not, check out the latest Paris metro billboard for Galeries Lafayette Maison (the home decor branch of the historic Parisian department store):

They could have shown sofas, blenders, cute little vases or a tool set, but instead they have a woman dressed in stiletto boots, latex catsuits and elbow-length gloves, and a smoking rooftop on her head...maybe they're trying to get more (heterosexual) men interested in home decor!

(okay, there *is* a nice Philippe Starck chair there, but who the heck is looking at *that*?!)

I handed in the final, edited manuscript today for the designers to start laying out the pages. It was the first time I'd ever seen my entire book all in one place! The final stats:

Just got the Naughty Paris Guide cover from the designers today. Looks great!

I delete tons of spam like everyone else, so I'm not sure why this funny one caught my eye. Of course you all know what it's an ad for, but I honestly must have had my head out of the gutter for once, because I clicked on the link....
the photo on the home page was also hilarious (she's peeking into his jeans...image cut off here). As if she could see anything down there! LOL

Fetish in Paris soirées tend to have a younger age average (30-something) than most fetish events. Perhaps it's because the emphasis is on the outrageous fetish fashions instead of BDSM dungeon stuff? Or maybe it's because one of the organizers is a young fetishwear designer herself, Mademoiselle Ilo.

The Bibliothèque Nationale de France - François Mitterrand (13th, M° Bibliothèque) will be displaying its special collection of banned books in an exhibition called "L'Enfer de la Bibliothèque, Eros au Secret" from December 4, 2007 through March 2, 2008. Rumor and intrigue have surrounded this mysterious collection of books -- called L'Enfer (Hell) -- for many years. Kept away from public eyes in a special reserve, the books include erotic literature, inflammatory political pamphlets, and even pornographic photography. The exhibition, interdit to those under 16, covers both the creation and maintenance of L'Enfer, as well as the books themselves. Open Tues-Sat 10am-7pm, Sun 1-7pm. Entry €7.
