Naughty Paris

The Zurban magazine has been a great source of inspiration over the years, daring to cover the S&M scene, swinger's clubs and fetish parties in their weekly entertainment guide (along with the usual nightlife, cinema, dining, etc.)

A few weeks ago, issue 291, they even devoted an entire feature (sponsored by Durex, of course) to the latest figures released on French sexuality by the ACSF (Analyse des Comportements Sexuels en France). Despite the fact that the French seem to consider themselves the best lovers in the world, here are some oddly surprising numbers:

* 71% of 18-24 year old's prefer sex in the horizontal position (lying down, for the directionally challeged among you).

* 13% of 18-24 year olds and 10% of 25-34 year olds have sex less than once a month (IMHO they're too busy demonstrating in the streets!).

* Only 5% of Parisians have ever gone to a swinger's club, but 35% have had sex in public places.

* 8% of Parisians claim to have multiple partners.

* 7% of Parisians like their neighbors hearing them having sex.

* Almost 50%of all Parisians have been in a sex shop at least once.

* 63% of 25-34 year olds consider themselves "adventurous" in their sex lives, compared to 32% for those over 65 years old.

* 43% of Parisians have checked into a hotel just to have sex.

Interestingly enough, the survey said that French people outside of Paris are more likely to go to sex clubs than those in the city. "Parisians are more coincés (uptight) than the rest of the French." Something to think about on your next trip to St-Tropez...
